Story behind the song
THE DOOR released to radio in April 2004 and quickly found success on many charts. It peaked at #1 on FreeRock1.com and on The Indie Rock Show with Sonia V. Sonia ended up naming it as the #1 song on her show for 2004 and FreeRock posted it as their #4 overall song for 2004 behind Skillet, Switchfoot and Jeremy Camp. What an honor!
Lyrics
You say you want to be something more Say you want to feel overwhelming love Walls all around are slowly closing in Numbing skin and choking breath The panic room has held you for too long Has the door closed and held you in the dark Good news is here if you will wisely hear Stop and listen to the faint and steady sound Knock knocking Stop talking Open up & make the change Loneliness it keeps you in the night Patiently waits to give his love, he gave his life Sunken so low that you can barely see Signs of the time in a resonating beat CHORUS Knock knocking stop talking Open up and make the change Heart gripping you're stricken With the truth so what's your choice? So you complain about your life but don't want to change really too much effort the comfort Zone and familiarity of pain doesn't make a difference anyway but what if what if what if ... you answer Quietly you sit and wait And pretend that you don't hear All along you've had this gnawing For the truth and something clear CHORUS (ad lib) So knock knocking knock knocking Knock knocking it is already here Knock knocking your living With the fear of uncertainty
