Jykevää jyrää!
Hurjat Hipit was founded in 1994 by Mika Kupiainen and Janne Pirinen . The meaning was to start a band which plays tough rock from somewhere between psycho metal, punkrock and kids' stuff. "Barkeeper" Kupiainen (ex Full Flavour) began to play drums, "Gonzales" Pirinen (ex Kosmonauts) started to sing and play the guitar. Pirinen's brother-in-law Kari Pirttisalo (ex nothing) was recruited as a bass player, and so the training began . Soon we noticed that second guitar would make the stuff tougher. So "Kartsa-eno" Pirttisalo switched to guitar and we got Jari Laakkonen(ex Talouskukkaro) to play the bass for us. This band played Hurjat Hipit's first gig in April fools day 1995. After a couple of gigs "Jarppa" Laakkonen was assigned to farm league team, and Ari "Arska" Ärmänen (ex Ujo Piimä) joined us. This band did some gigs in 1996 and some cult following was achieved. Soon we noticed that third guitar would make the stuff tougher. So "Pete" Korhonen (ex Lihannekset) joined us. Pete had earlier played a gig for us as drummer. Even before this had Hurjat Hipit visited a real recording studio in October 1996. The second visit to studio was June 1997. The recipe was the same: seven hours, eleven songs. Soon we noticed that fourth, fifth and sixth guitar would make the stuff tougher. So in August 1997 Hurjat Hipit played their first gig with six (6) guitars. Marko "Minttu" Salimäki (ex The Wall), Heikki "Heikki" Marttila (ex Pool) and Jarno "Jarno" Sakki (ex Flying Underground) joined . Soon we noticed that seventh and eighth guitar would make the stuff tougher. Jani "Pomo" Salomaa (ex Envelope) and Pasi "Sortsi" Sorjonen (ex Smell Hell) joined in 1998. The second Internet-album Hanaa! came out in may 1999. By this time more than 35 000 visitors had visited the Hurjat Hipit website and the band decided they deserved gold diskettes for that. After the gold disk party Kai "Slerpa" Relander (ex Metallica) joined as tambourine player. Hanna "Hanski" Asunta, Jouni "Jorma" Purola and Heikki "Hese" Nyman (ex Waldo's People) joined Hurjat Hipit in 2000 to strenghten the rhythm section. New mp3 - album "Heinz-Harald" was out 25.7.2000. Next mp3 - album "Live in the unplugged" followed swiftly. Double gold diskettes were given to Hurjat Hipit's fans in december 2000. New drummer Korkki "Slerpa" Leppänen(ex Salvador) joined the band to strenghten the rhythm section.
