HARD ROCK BAND THAT BLENDS HEAVY BRITISH AND SOUTHERN ROCK styleS. TOUR DATES INCLUDE GIGS WITH AC/DC, DERRINGER, PAT TRAVERS BAND...AND WERE CONSIDERED AS
AVALANCHE is defined by Webster's as: "an unstoppable natural force"...and this all-original rock band certainly seems to fit that definition...overcoming the odds to produce some of the very best original hard rock anywhere! With an unorthodox strategy for success in 1978 (which included 18 months of intense rehearsals, their own record label, $75,000.00 worth of state-of-the-art stage gear, and a record on over a dozen New England radio stations for three months...all before ever playing a live gig) AVALANCHE's debut show was attended by over 3500 people..and the band was immediately playing to sold-out shows and standing room only crowds wherever they appeared. Within a month after their first gig, AVALANCHE was headlining in large club venues, and shortly after that, the band was opening tour dates and sharing concert stages on AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" tour, as well as with DERRINGER, and THE PAT TRAVERS BAND. They were also considered as a tour opener for TOTO's First U.S. Tour. A tight and well rehearsed rock-n-roll machine...this band did whatever was necessary to bring studio-quality hard rock to the live-concert stage...and they did it without the support of a major record label. Now recording again, with all the surviving members of the original lineup...here is the first new AVALANCHE music in over twenty years...as well as some of their old music too, (most of the recordings have never been available before). AVALANCHE continues to defy the odds with their staying power and persistence...and by remaining "unstoppable"...they are here NOW....for you to sample and enjoy! Story behind the song
Background Information on the Recording of IT'LL COME BACK AND HAUNT YOU Music, Lyrics, and Arrangement by: Michael Foster Produced and Mixed by: Michael Foster for Golden Sun Records Engineering, Production and Mixing Assistance by: Mark Easton Recorded and Mixed at Rough Cut Studios...Eastford, Ct. Remixed at GOLDEN SUN STUDIO...North Palm Beach, Florida in February, 2010 Mastered by: David Pendragon at THE STUDIO...Canberra, Australia. PLAYING CREDITS: Michael Foster: Keyboards, Guitars, Vocals, (First guitar solo...over the "wire choir") Mark Easton: Guitars ( Final guitar solo.) Barry Easton: Drums Michael Corsini: Bass Copyright 2003 by Crystal Magic Music Publishing (ASCAP) The June 2004 recording of "IT'LL COME BACK AND HAUNT YOU" is the first newly recorded music by the all-original hard rock band AVALANCHE! in nearly 20 years. The 1986 song, written by leader-founder Michael Foster, continues in the band's tradition of writing mainstream, but distinctive songs that draw from many influences, but have a sound that is different, yet vaguely familiar at the same time. Although the absence of close friend and original bass player Charles Calmese (killed in an auto accident in 1988) is immediately apparent to anyone whoever saw or heard AVALANCHE on stage back in 1979 and 1980, and remembers just how distinctive and talented this Multi-Platinum Record Award-winning musician was...(Charles' bass playing can be heard on two of The Steve Miller Bands most successful albums, FLY LIKE AN EAGLE and BOOK OF DREAMS) the essence and core sound of AVALANCHE is still very much alive and well in all the surviving original group members...and so is the chemistry that always made Avalanche songs and live performances so powerful. The synergy between life-long friends Michael Foster and Mark Easton, both accomplished singer-songwriters and guitarists, whose different writing and performing styles compliment, (rather than compete) with each other, as well as the seasoned drumming of Barry Easton, Mark's younger brother, all figure significantly into the equation. All are original members of the band...and the addition of Michael Corsini on bass (a life-long friend and former band mate from pre-Avalanche days...make him the logical choice to replace Charles in the band) has restored the band to it's original power..and energy. This brand new version (Michael Corsini added a new bass part in 2005)... was originally remixed and remastered in July, 2006...(and was again in March of 2010) and Michael's great playing clearly adds the missing component...and the finishing touches to this song. Although I have been playing keyboards extensively for many years...in Avalanche I have always had to choose which instrument (guitar or keyboards) is most important to the song...in a "live" performance. This is the first Avalanche track ever that features both prominent keyboard parts...as well as guitar parts played by me. It is therefore, primarily a studio effort, and would be very difficult to "pull off" in concert without additional personnel. The magic that always existed in this group becomes apparent when one listens to this new song, which was recorded in four takes, and literally only a few hours after Michael played it for Mark and Barry to hear for the very first time. The rehearsal was recorded...and even though this song was never intended to be an actual release...it just sort of worked out that way. (There are many mistakes that were made during the recording process...from playing mistakes, to incorrect mic placements, no real level setting...and a host of other errors.) All things considered...we decided to let this song be heard in this form anyway...even though we know that today, we can do a much better version of this track. It is....a musical moment captured in time...and for us...it was a very important one. At the end of the song, I
Lyrics
IT'LL COME BACK AND HAUNT YOU COPYRIGHT 2003 by Crystal Magic Music (ASCAP) I can tell by that look in your eyes... I see that something about you... Just like the friends that all your money buys... Nothing real there to cling to.... Now we'll watch as the wheel spins round... See your life come back on you... All your evil comes tumbling down.... Your own poison will drown you.....yeah It'll come back and haunt you.. Don't need no one to tell me time flies... I wonder where all the years go... Too many times I've been pulled in by lies... I've seen you put on your show.... Now we'll watch as the wheel spins round... See your lies come back on you... All your evil...and all you despise Will just come back and taunt you...yeah It'll come back and haunt you THREE PART "WIRE CHOIR" I can tell by your shallow disguise... I've got my reasons to doubt you... Too many years gone...and too many tries... Can't live with or without you Now we'll watch as the wheel spins round... Like a fire that's burning... Using me up....and dragging me down... And that wheel is still turning...yeah SOLO OVER THE "WIRE CHOIR" It'll come back and haunt you....It'll come back and haunt you. OUTRO GUITAR SOLO REPEAT LAST LINE END
