(i.e. shockwaves of rebellion).Band/artist history
Although a relatively new band on the scene, Shockwave is quickly making their presence known. While their debut EP "The Assembly of Shockwave" is briskly selling and their T-shirts are in high demand, Shockwave has additionally been receiving airplay on several college radio stations, and on two of the major New England rock & metal radio stations. By their second show, Shockwave was a headlining act, and by their third show they had claimed second place in a battle of the bands. While most of their fan base is in the New England area so far, Shockwave has fans from Texas, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Washington State, and as far away as England and Sweden.
Refusing to play only one style of aggressive music, Shockwave's songs are built upon hard rock, heavy metal, thrash, punk, alternative, and "nu-metal" influences. Shockwave refuses to be the band you can say sounds just like "" However, the common ground of metal roots and lyrical integrity ensure that these aggressive and memorable songs are all representative of Shockwave. Lyrically Shockwave addresses issues including religion, gang violence, conformity, ignorance, oppression, relationships, experiences with abuse of authority and power, and child abuse.
After listening to the music and gaining an understanding of their lyrics, the name Shockwave seems all the more befitting of the band. Everyday in the news we can see the direction society is heading in and of course the scape-goating of "aggressive" and "violent" music. Just imagine how much worse things would be if there wasn't this outlet, this safety valve. Shockwave's music addresses the ills of society and talks about a change, claiming to be "music for a new society." This claim is not that they are merely making the soundtrack to this new society, but for the active process of creating it.
