Just a little two chord song I wrote about a friend of mine when we were kids.
Not really a band. Just me and sometimes my son, Scott, sits in and helps me out. I pretty just do this for the fun of it.
Story behind the song
I wrote this song in about 10 minutes just fiddling around with two chords. I decided to record it using my Tascam 8-track for a buddies independent film. Took a whole hour and a half from start to finish. I play and sing all the parts and used a drum track from my keyboard. It is what it is. Nothing more, Nothing less.
Lyrics
Let me tell you a story, about a friend of mine
Let me tell you a story, about a friend of mine
He was only 15, When the world left him behind
And it was such a sad sad day, that day his daddy died
Let me tell you a story, about a friend of mine
Let me tell you a sad little story 'bout a friend of mine
We went down to the tracks south of town, cried and drank a bottle of wine
I looked at him as he passed that bottle to me, and he said "brother guess it's time"
So he stumbled to his feet, hung his head in defeat, and cried "Why lord why"
Let me tell you a story, about a friend of mine
As the engine went by, saw a tear in his eye
He never looked back as he stepped onto that track
Let me tell you a story, about a friend of mine
Let me tell you a story...
tell you a story....
Now I'm 35 years old, it was a long time ago
I never seen Terry walk away
He was my best friend, and he will be to the end
My brother to this very day.
Let me tell you a story, about a friend of mine
Let me tell you a story, about a friend of mine
about a friend of mine.
