Story behind the song
After watching the WVU vs. Oklahoma game in Glendale, I realized something - Great things come to those who never stop believing. After losing a key game to Pitt, losing a coach to greed, and losing a shot at the national championship game, they pulled through and showed the country what they're made of. Bill Stewart and The Mountaineers inspired me to write this song about not letting other people quit. Instead, people should lift each other up and give each other hope.
Lyrics
Cherish (Original) by Chris Cendana Copyright 2008 I remember you in autumn leaves In the river underneath the trees I can feel your heartbeat in the breeze Crossing this bridge Watching closely I can see debris From the cigarette burned at your feet With your arms stretched out to feel release Let them embrace you The world is fighting now People falling to the ground What makes it right to end it now? Cherish your life Though the bad can get worse Strap on your converse and say Let's walk off the night Get off the ledge And cherish your life always As the cold begins to shiver knees Your lungs pump out what you can't see Hands cry out and bleed in misery Please offer it up The last thing I want to see Is doubting what you mean to me Whom I love love love Cherish your life Though the bad can get worse Strap on your converse and say Let's walk off the night Get off the ledge And cherish your life always Always always offer it up Cherish your life Though the bad can get worse Strap on your converse and say Let's walk off the night Get off the ledge And cherish your life always
